NOW OPEN: Nabana no Sato Winter Illumination 2026-27 Runs Through May
2026-10-25 · 6 min read

Japan's single largest illumination event has already turned on for the season - and this edition will stay lit until spring 2027.
The 2026-27 edition of Nabana no Sato Winter Illumination - routinely rated Japan's largest single illumination with roughly 8 million LEDs - opened Saturday, October 17, 2026 and will run through Monday, May 31, 2027. That is 227 nights, longer than any winter illumination in the country.
The park is closed only on January 6-7, 2027 for annual maintenance. Lights are on from roughly 17:00 (sunset) and the park stays open until 21:00, extended to 22:00 on some peak weekends.
⚡⏰ Peak-season rooms go first
Golden Week, Obon, New Year and the sakura and autumn-leaf peaks fill up fast. Once your dates are set, check availability now. Every week you wait, there are fewer rooms to choose from.
What is new this season
The main theme attraction for 2026-27 (the park swaps the central scene each October) and the exact admission price have not been confirmed in English-language sources yet. Travel-industry listings are quoting the 2025-26 price of ¥2,500 per adult, so budget around that. Children under elementary school are free.
What you actually see
- ●The 200-meter LED tunnel 'Hikari no Kairo' (the signature photo)
- ●A second shorter tunnel in autumn/pink colors
- ●A large themed central scene changed yearly (prior years: Mt. Fuji, Grand Canyon, Japanese seasons)
- ●A mirrored lake with light choreography set to music

Why go in November, not December: because Nabana is open until May, Japanese travelers wait until February-April for the plum and tulip pairing. November weeknights are easily the lowest-crowd window of the entire 7-month run - go now.
Confirm the final 2026-27 admission on the official Nagashima Resort page before you travel; the English-language page typically updates in early November.
