Kanazawa Fire Department New Year Review (Dezomeshiki)

Kanazawa's fire brigades hold their New Year review ceremony at Shinmaru Plaza in Kanazawa Castle Park, with free admission. The highlight is Kaga-tobi ladder climbing, an Ishikawa Prefecture designated intangible folk cultural property in which performers carry out 27 techniques on a bamboo ladder about 6 m long, followed by synchronised water discharge. The 2026 ceremony was held on Sunday, January 11 from 10:00 to 11:00, and the 2025 ceremony was listed for January 5.
Access: Bus from JR Kanazawa Station East Exit to the Kenrokuen-shita / Kanazawa-jo stop, then about 5 minutes on foot; no parking at the venue
