蹴鞠初是下鴨神社每年1月4日在神事之後舉行的新年首場蹴鞠表演。由京都蹴鞠保存會演出,戴著烏帽子的鞠人以6至8人為一組,踢起鹿皮製的鞠。日本政府觀光局(JNTO)2025年的活動月曆標示為13:30開始。
