伏見稻荷大社為紀念稻荷大神首次在稻荷山鎮座之日，於2月的初午日8點起舉行初午祭。神社表示，這是京都初春的首要祭事，從前一天的巳日起，神社前就擠滿參拜者。兩天前的辰日，神社會把以稻荷山杉樹與椎樹枝條製成的「青山飾」裝飾在本殿與各攝末社。
