About this festival
The Hiraoka Plum Festival is held at Hiraoka Park in Kiyota Ward, Sapporo, where about 1,200 plum trees grow on a 6.5-hectare site. The Sapporo Tourism Association's 2026 notice lists a temporary shop selling plum soft-serve ice cream and guided plum grove tours on April 28 and April 30, with registration required. The park says plums in Sapporo usually flower in early May, around the same time as the cherry blossoms.
