Expo 2025 Osaka closed in October 2025 after six months on Yumeshima. Pavilions were mostly dismantled; a few relocated around the world. The 2-kilometer Grand Ring — the largest wooden structure ever built — is being partially preserved as a public park centerpiece. Here is what you can still see in 2027.

What's left on Yumeshima

After the Expo closed in October 2025, the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition began deconstruction. Participating countries were given until April 2026 to clear their pavilion sites. The Osaka city plan preserves approximately 200 meters of the Grand Ring (the northeastern section), subject to inspection confirmation. This piece will become the centerpiece of a new 3.3-hectare public park. A section of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion is also planned for preservation. The rooftop walking path of the preserved Grand Ring, which was Expo's iconic feature, will not be reachable until around 2030 per city officials. The rest of Yumeshima is zoned for MGM's integrated resort (opening target late 2020s) and a planned 50-hectare recreation complex.

Where Expo pavilions went

The Expo organizers maintain a 'Legacy Map' tracking where structural elements and installations relocated — Kansai museums, universities, and some to overseas sites. Notable moves include parts of the Japan Pavilion (made from recycled timber) ending up at Osaka universities, and several country pavilions donating their structures to local schools or research institutes.
