伏见稻荷大社为纪念稻荷大神首次在稻荷山镇座之日，于2月的初午日8点起举行初午祭。神社表示，这是京都初春的首要祭事，从前一天的巳日起，神社前就挤满参拜者。两天前的辰日，神社会把以稻荷山杉树与椎树枝条制成的青山饰装饰在本殿与各摄末社。
